The special is a highlight of the telly calendar – basically, RTÉ invites a ton of single people on the Late Late, gives them a few sherries, and tries to set up some dates.
As you might imagine, this provides some excellent TV. There was the time that one merry lad, presumably of sound mind and body, asked Katie Hopkins for a kiss:

This year, they’re looking for 200 more singletons to get rowdy in the audience – more than 1.2 million people tuned in to the last one, so that’s the scope of mortification you’re dealing with if you choose to enter.
